Hay Importance & Teeth Care. Small animal herbivores such as rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas have constantly growing teeth. It is vitally important that they get a consistent supply of premium quality and high fiber timothy hay to help wear down their teeth. Occasionally, those teeth need to be trimmed by a vet when there are health issues. Make sure your vet with small animal experience, sees your small pet for a wellness check annually.
